Every product in the Untamed Soul range is named in honour of someone who refused to accept the boundaries and limits that society put on them. These trousers are named after Claudette Colvin, who was just 15 years old when she refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama—nine months before Rosa Parks did the same.
Despite her bravery, civil rights leaders at the time felt an unmarried pregnant teenager wasn't the right face for the movement, so her story was largely pushed to the margins. We honour Claudette because she reminds us of the raw, unfiltered courage of youth and the uncomfortable truth that history often polishes away the edges of the people who actually started the fire.
